Dorset vet Martin Fielding will be recounting comical incidents from his career. He will be looking back at memorable moments from his time as a veterinary student through to retirement from his Dorchester practice five years ago. During his long and varied career his patients ranged from pet spiders to a circus elephant – with everything in between. Martin is well known for his humorous talks to local groups and many farmers and pet owners will recall his popular Wessex FM phone-in programme a few years ago.
Martin says: “I’ve treated all sorts of animals over the years with farm work, lots of cats and dogs and more exotic patients like penguins and pythons and a circus elephant with a burn. I once had to do a blood test on a big turtle for the television programme Animal Rescue. Often the funny side of treating an animal is dealing with the owners – I can tell a few stories about some of them mostly from my days as a vet early on in Whitby.”
