Until a member can be found to provide Insurance information, I have inserted this Insurance Page in our web site, where I intend to publish the insurance experience of our members. This will obviously depend upon you sending me the details and I will of course, not include the source of any contributions. You may send these by email [max9] or telephone 01202676601. All the information is supplied in good faith, for use by PHSG members. As a start, I would like to comment on the medical screening, necessary when insuring existing conditions. A friend of mine had to cancel a holiday and claimed on their insurance. Only to be told that they did not mention the reason for cancellation during the medical screening and their claim was refused. They were confident they had, so I would tend to insure with those companies that will provide you with a copy of your medical screening. I list below a copy of the questions and answers of such a screening for a person who has had heart bypass, a fitted pacemaker and an enlarged prostate. CABG How long ago was recent procedure --- More than 6 weeks have you had any instances of Angina since this procedure --- No. Are you taking medication to prevent angina --- No Have you ever had a heart attack ---No. Have you ever been a smoker ---No. Arrhythmia Have you had an ablation procedure (uses a wire to destroy abnormal heart tissue) ---No. How many medicines do you take for your heart rhythm disturbance or palpitations ---None. (NUAL-no upper age limit) I have checked the numbers on their web sites and made corrections as necessary. Google search will find the company web site for you, if you wish to enquire via the internet. All Clear Travel 08707779339 Single NUAL Annual NUAL. Contacts who will provide brokers are: British assoc. of Insurers 02076003333 British Insurance Brokers Assoc. 08709501790 Interesting extract from 'moneysavingexpert.com' [Older people and those who’ve had serious past medical problems can often be charged ridiculous amounts. If that’s the case, opt for single trip cover, not annual, and avoid destinations with costly medical treatments, especially the USA though Spain can be an issue too. However do remember the EHIC card means within the EU you're entitled to emergency medical treatment. There are specialists for those with pre-existing conditions, Medicover, Orbis and Travelbility, which also offers good rates to customers with disabilities. Get benchmark quotes from them and then see if you can beat it using Cover My Travels, Saga, Age Concern , and InTune. If the cover is still unaffordable, the price may drop considerably if you ask insurers to exclude pre-existing conditions; though it’s then your judgment call on the risks of going with limited cover.] I HAVE BEEN SENT FURTHER INFORMATION ON INSURERS
