DTGCMy name is Sonja Sparrow and I am a member of the PHSG. In my spare time, I am the Membership Secretary of the Dorset Theatre-Goer’s Club (DTGC) – a Dorset organisation for lovers of theatre in the Weymouth, Dorchester, Blandford, Wimborne and Ferndown areas of Dorset. (Separate independent branches cover the Bournemouth and Purbeck areas.)

DTGC was established in 1970 by Graham Jenkins, now our Honorary President, and the Club has been run continuously, largely by volunteers, since then.

About once a month we travel by specially-chartered coaches from local pick-up points to see a play or musical (or perhaps the occasional ballet or opera).  We normally go to matinees on a Saturday, and occasionally on a Wednesday or a Thursday, at leading theatres throughout the south of England. In the past these have included venues in Bath, Brighton, Bristol, Chichester, Exeter, Guildford, London, Newbury, Plymouth, Richmond, Salisbury, Sonning, Southampton, Windsor and Woking.

Events to look forward to are: “Before the Party” – comedy in the Theatre Royal, Bath on 10th September. Visit the Garrick Club including a meal in London on 1st October OR “Mamma Mia” – musical in the Novello Theatre (both afternoon events).

If you enjoy travelling in comfort to see live theatre, combined with a great day out, then Dorset Theatre-Goers’ Club may be for you. Call Sonja on 01202 801285 (answering machine available) for more information or check out our very informative website

The following message has been received from the BHF. If you wish to attend the event, send an email t0

Have you or a loved one been affected by cardiovascular disease (CVD)?

Support is a key part of our 2020 strategy. Too many people with CVD go without good care and support at the right time.

We would like to invite you to join us for an event at our Head Office in central London on Friday 14th August 2015. It will be your chance to:

  • Tell us what helps you to live well with CVD
  • Share your views on the support BHF currently provides to people affected by CVD
  • Tell us what support you think BHF should offer to people affected by CVD in the future
  • Meet other people affected by cardiovascular disease

The event will run from 11.00 – 3:30. BHF will provide lunch and pay for your travel.

If you would like to book a place on this event and help us develop our new strategy for support, please email by Wednesday 29th July 2015. Places are limited and so are restricted to two members per Heart Support Group. They will be offered on a first come first served basis.

I look forward to hearing from you.

With best wishes,
