Greetings

I wanted to send some sort of holiday greeting to my friends and colleagues, but it is difficult in today’s world to know exactly what to say without offending someone. So I met with my lawyer yesterday, and on her advice I wish to say the following:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday practised with the most enjoyable traditions of religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practise religious or secular traditions at all. Premiums soar as travel policy ageism worsens

Older holidaymakers are battling against rising premiums and strict age limits to get suitable travel insurance, while younger travellers are enjoying a sharp fall in prices.

The average premium on an annual worldwide policy for a 70-year-old with health problems has risen by almost 10% since 2011 to £216, while premiums for a 30-year-old with similar health problems have dropped by a third to £63, according to analysis for The Sunday Times by the money-saving website comparethemarket.com.

Overall, 70-year-old holidaymakers typically pay about four times as much for annual worldwide insurance as 30 to 45-year-olds.
